Winter is brutal on skin. Cold outdoor air strips moisture, indoor heating dries you out further, and the result is tightness, flaking, and a dull complexion. Here's what your routine needs to thrive when the temperature drops.
First, swap your cleanser. Foaming or gel cleansers can be too stripping in winter — switch to a cream or oil-based cleanser that respects your skin barrier while still removing makeup and impurities.
Second, double down on hydration. A hyaluronic acid serum applied to damp skin pulls moisture in. Layer it under your moisturiser for maximum effect.
Third, upgrade your moisturiser. Lightweight summer formulas won't cut it. Look for ingredients like ceramides, squalane, and shea butter to reinforce your skin barrier.
Fourth, never skip SPF. Winter sun and UV reflection from snow are real threats — daily SPF 30 minimum is non-negotiable, even on cloudy days.
Finally, treat yourself to a weekly facial mask. Hydrating sheet masks or overnight sleeping masks deliver concentrated nutrients while you rest.
